Untitled
The title of the piece is 무제: Untitled, due to my focus being more on the process of the work, instead of the resulting product. Without having to add context through the title of the piece, I hoped to bring the details of the project more into focus towards the audience. In addition, “무제," in direct translation means “untitled,” and by having both contexts, I wanted to portray the importance of language and its relation to culture through this dichotomy. Being a mixed media project, I wanted to incorporate various materials and mediums to highlight textures and layers. To provide more contrast, I created a digital replica, not only to archive my ideas but to present how the physicality of a collage could extend itself as a more personal, intimate experience through its organic nature.
